It’s doesn’t matter if you are starting a blog or writing content, the importance of research cannot be underestimated. You need to know what the audience is looking for and this means you should find what’s trending in the industry. For example, you need to find out what questions are being asked so you can answer them by providing the right type of value. You will be writing content so make sure you do your research. Here’s a few cools ways to find what topics are trending –
a) Google Trends is one of the best free ways to find what topics are attractive. Using this tool, you’ll be able to see how the search pattern is changing and what people are looking for. You can find new keywords to write about and add to your content so you be the first to make a boom online. This is a free tool and is based on a target keyword so make sure you have one in mind.
b) Community – this is when you find what’s trending by searching on relevant communities. You start by doing a quick search in Google then skimming through forums looking for common questions being asked by users. The more a question is being asked, the better response it will get once you’re done writing content. However, as mention for you to do well in these communities, you will need to make sure each one is targeted.
c) Google Search – this is one of the oldest ways to find topics to write about. By doing quick searches online, you’ll be able to find relevant words and topics. You can mix them up to put some great content idea’s together. Make sure when searching, you start with a main target word and continue to build from there. Google will automatically display those keywords which are more popular than others.
Since we are talking about getting your name published, it’s important we talk about forums. Posting in communities is a great way to get your name published and build a network of people to follow you. The concept is the same, you should find the forums relevant to your niche then create an account. Start posting valuable information within these communities.
2) Guest Blogging
One of the best ways to get your name published is by getting published on someone else’s blogs. For example, one of the best practices is to find blogging opportunities in your niche and write content for others. Because the other blogger has so much traffic and credibility, you’ll be able to get your name out there very quickly and be able to build credibility in no time. But, you need to find the right type of opportunities and I would suggest using Google. Here is a quick way to get started within minutes.
First, head over to Google Search and do a quick search using a targeted keyword. Once the top blogs appear, skim through each website and see if they accept guest blogging opportunities. You might need to write to the blog owners and ask them. At the same time, I would suggest you take some time to gather topics and pitch a few ideas because these will help build a better relationship. Once you get approval, I recommend you write your content focusing on quality because this will lead to further opportunities going forward. Low quality content will leave a bad impression and you will lose guest posting opportunities.
3) Leaving Comments
There are many blogs online and you will have an opinion on a lot of them. To get your name out in front of people relevant to your niche, you can focus on reading through content and leaving your feedback where it matters. Don’t spam blogs, but provide value through your comments. A lot of blogs will allow you to leave your name and a URL back to your website when posting a comment. After your comment has been approved, there are a lot of people who will click through to your website. If you don’t have a website, then leaving comments regularly will be good enough to get your name out in the market. Start in Google by doing a quick search for relevant blogs and focus on posting within the top blogs in the search results. These are the blogs with the most traffic and when posting your comments, you’ll get a lot of exposure this way.
Always start slow and take your time when leaving comments. It’s important not to spam because if you do then you’ll get banned from leaving comments and this will slow down your growth.
4) Start PodCasts
This is one of the new fresh ways to get your name out in the public and create a brand for yourself. A podcast is a online series which is an audio clip of several different topics in your niche. Unlike YouTube where people post videos, with Podcasts you’ll be posting audio clips and interviews with other influential people within your niche. Since you’ll be the author and/or creator of the podcasts, you’ll be able to get your name published with every podcast published online. To get started, do a search online and see what topics are popular online and find some common questions being asked by people. Create a list and start to put podcasts together for each one. There are many free tools available to help you out so search them online before getting started. As added bonus, you can find other influential people within your niche and do an interview with them. They will be able to provide a lot of insight into the topic and niche.
When I first started out, I was writing content for others as a freelancer. I posted in job communities and networked with others until I was hired to write content for different bloggers in different niches. This gave me a chance to be an author when writing content, and after my content was published, I was slowly building a following online in my niche. There are freelance networks available which make it very easy for you to get started like Odesk and Freelancer. Both are free to sign up and when you do, I recommend you take some time to set up your profile so clients hiring you have a good idea about your experience and what kind of service you can provide to them.
Overtime as you start to build your credibility and keep writing posts, you’ll be published on the blogs of clients and this will get your name out in front of people. At the same time, make sure to use social media to share your content so others will see the value it provides. The cool thing about social media is that overtime as people continue to share, you’ll build traffic to the content and blog which is a lot more promotion for your name.
Getting you name out on the internet can be very lucrative for you because as your credibility grows, you’ll be able to make a lot more money off your brand. However, you need to be clever when promoting your name because it should not be associated with low quality content. If this happens, then others will not come back and read your content because they feel you provided no value to them. So how do you make sure this doesn’t happen? You start with research and make sure you are focusing on only the most important topics. Next, you should read through this content again and start to implement the strategies where you can. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the data making so you can find out which ones are producing the most results for you.
