Email marketing is massive and you can generate enormous buzz by doing it the right way. However, there are still a lot of people who don’t know how to conduct it so miss out on marketing opportunities. For example, email marketing can drive a lot of people to your blog, but you need to make sure it’s targeted. If you don’t then you will lose credibility and readers very quickly. I’ve always loved email marketing because you can build an online presence quickly as long as you know what you’re doing. For example, you need to study and know what are the best times to send out emails, content and on what days. Knowing all of this will allow you to tap into the highest possible amount of people. This of course will be great for your bottom line. I have been blogging for several years and learned a lot over the years. I will like to take some time to share what I have learned over the years. I think it’s important you utilize what I’m outlining here the next time you sit down to send out an email.
Let’s get started and if you have any feedback, please leave it in the comment box below the content.
This is one of the most important things to keep an eye on when sending an email. By perfecting your email template, you are increasing the amount of people clicking through to your content. Just like you won’t remain on a website which you are not comfortable with because of the design. The same can be applied email templates because if people don’t like the way your template looks, they will not stick around. With that said, you have everything you need because many of the new email marketing providers will give you an all in one solution. They will give you everything you need so be sure to use the templates and all the fonts.
I suggest paying close attention to your competition and see what they are doing differently. You can learn a lot from them about what mistakes you should avoid.
2) Subject Line
The goal is to get your email message inside the inbox. If you can’t get inside the inbox then everything you are planning to do has just gone down the drain. For this reason, I encourage you to keep an eye on your subject and use words which are not proven to go into spam. Words like free, make money or others have been known to do very poorly because Google has noticed a pattern of fraud emails over the years. They have now tweaked their Gmail account to do much better and catch any type of email which has those types of emails. There is a lot of information available online about the type of keywords you should be focusing on. Just do a quick search in Google and you will find what keywords you should be using in the subject line and which ones you should be avoiding.
3) Value in Email
That’s right! Just like no one will read your content is you fail to provide value, you need to know no one will open your email messages if you don’t provide the value they are looking for. It’s important you to provide value in your emails so people know they are getting the greatest bang for the buck. You want to make sure everything which is sent in your email message has value so people don’t choose to unsubscribe. I encourage you to only send the best content to your readers because this will keep your subscribers always online. This will keep your subscribers on your list and you will be able to send them content over again increasing your overall conversions.
Here’s something else –
You want to keep a close eye on your competition and frequency. You don’t want to send out too many message because you’ll be pushing your subscribers away.
4) Date and Time
Depending on your niche some days and times will work better than others. You want to make sure you collect data and know when your subscribers are opening their email messages. You want to know the day and time people are around because this will increase your overall conversion rate. The only way you’ll find out what times and day’s work is by doing some split testing and collecting data. You need to send messages and keep an eye on when people are opening them.
You can also sign up to the newsletters of your competition and see what they are doing. You can look at the type of templates they are using and what times they send out newsletters. Because they are in the same niche as you, you’ll be able to pull out a lot of data from them. Also, the email marketing service you are using should provide you with everything you need to collect all the data.
5) Provide Incentive
This is something which tool me a long time to figure out. It took me awhile to figure out how important it was to provide an incentive to those subscribing to my newsletter. I learned from other top bloggers, you need to give them an incentive to join your newsletter or email list. So, here’s the best advice I can give you –
First, when you have people coming to your website, it’s important to give them an incentive to join. Offer them a free trial or eBook which will help them beat anxiety. Secondly, you want to make sure when they sign-up to your newsletter you provide them with what you are offering. The last thing you want is for people to sign-up and not get what you promised. It a big way to lose credibility and an even bigger way to lose valuable readers. You need to always give what you promise. Next, try out different incentives because you never know what will work so again split test when your getting started.
I’ve found one of the best things you can offer is a free eBook. Why? Because it’s free and if you provide a lot of value, you’ll do very well with it.
6) Proper Link Placement in Message
Another important aspect of email marketing is to have the right link placement in your messages. You want to make sure the body contains value information and a few links all providing easy access if the reader chooses to click. You need to keep an eye on other things too. For example, the link must be surrounded with anchor which does not make the message go into spam. Your message is no good if it ends up in spam because then the likelihood of the person clicking has gone down enormously. It’s recommended that your message should not be longer then a paragraph and that you should place at least 2-3 links inside the body.
Link placement is very important when marketing. The reason being because you want to make sure the subscribers opens and clicks the message If you don’t then the whole purpose of your message has gone down the drain. If you do a quick search in Google, you’ll be able to find enormous guides all providing you with awesome information on crafting the perfect message. I recommend taking your time to read through some of them so you can learn what’s important and what’s not. It also does take experience and skill to learn some of the best message skills so try out different things until you find a strategy that works.
I have been email marketing for several years and learned a lot over the years. I love email marketing because by doing things the right way, you can increase your conversions and engagement quickly. However, again it does take time to learn all the tricks. Here’s somethings to keep in mind before you start with email marketing –
First, know your audience and what they are looking for. This way you can craft a message designed for them. Next, you want to use the right words in the subject matter because this will help you get inboxed. Over the years many of the email clients have become very smart so know what words to block in the subject line. I recommend doing some research before you start writing out what your subject line. Third, it’s equally important to make sure you are sending message at the right time. Timing will increase your conversions rates and will increase your readership too.
It is important with email marketing that you try different things. It’s important you continue to tweak until you find the right combination for yourself. This is the only way you’ll find out if your email marketing strategy is providing you with the most conversions. Please leave your comments below.
