Research

It all starts with research and you should take time to find the right blogs to get started with. By doing research, you’ll be able to narrow down the best blogs you should be reaching out to. By doing research, you’ll save yourself a lot of time and money not wasting your effort on blogs which will produce no results. With that said, let’s look at the top 3 ways to find the best blogs you should be networking with going forward.

Google Trends – this is a great site to find content you can write about. When you are pitching guest posting ideas, you will need great ideas. You will need ideas which will generate a huge buzz because this will build engagement. Google Trends is an awesome site because it allows you to search what’s trending and use it in the content you are writing.

Google Search – another awesome website because you can find whatever you need by doing targeted searches. For example, a simple search with the following “top niche blogs” will give you a cool list of blogs you should be focusing in going forward. Google search has a lot of commands all perfect for you to find what you are looking for.

Quora – I usually don’t recommend this website but you can find a lot of cool links pointing to dominating blogs. Do your research and you’ll be able to find blogs in every niche which provide you with awesome information and support. Create a list of the blogs you find and then start your networking.

Guest Post and Blogging

If you can get your content published on a blog with enormous visitors then you are off to a good start. What will help is if that blog has a social media presence because that will increase your traffic and engagement. However, the key is to take out time to find the right types of blogs. From my experience, you should be looking for the following when doing research.

First, you want to find blogs which are relevant to your niche because traffic from irrelevant blogs will do no good. If you are in the online marketing niche, then focus on connecting with blogs in the outline marketing niche. If you don’t then you will have a hard time building a presence from irrelevant traffic sources. Secondly, you want to narrow down your list and start to skim through each blog. You are looking for blogs which are updating content continuously and have fresh new content always. This is important because it’s well-known that blogs who do not update their content will lose rankings and their traffic will begin to suffer. Make sure the blog you choose is updating their content on a regular basis. Third, you want to focus on blogs with a good social profile. Head over to each social media account and look at their followers. The more followers, the more better for you. Fourth, you want to get published on high authority blogs because this have a positive effect on the overall rankings of your website. You can find out the value of the website by going to AHREFS.com and doing a quick search looking for the domain and page authority number.

When you have narrowed down the blogs, it’s important to contact the owners asking them what type of content they expect to read. Don’t forget to send some pitches to the blog owner to view at the same time.

Broken Link Building

This is a new method I learned and is very powerful in building links. The strategy is very simple once you know how to use the tools and search commands available to you. For example, with this strategy, you will be finding existing links which are broken then contacting the user to add your link instead. Many websites go online daily, but many more shut down leaving a lot of broken links on a page and/or website. This strategy was first introduced by Brain Dean and has been effective in increasing rankings and authority link building. Here’s how you get started –

Find some blogs which are relevant in your niche and then head over to AHREFS.com. Paste the URL into the search field and click on the menu item “Broken External Links”. This will give you a list of links on any given page which are pointing to a webpage that is broken. I recommend paying close attention to the content type and title so you can create something similar. Once you have a list of content title’s, it’s time to start creating your own content by doing research. It’s important to create content which is amazing and better than the previous content. Make sure it’s up to date and will create momentum online. This will increase the likelihood of the blog owner replacing the link adding your website instead. SO, once you have created content, you can proceed by contacting the blog owner letting them know about your new content and the broken link. Let them know you have created something better and if they will consider linking to your page instead.

This method works very well when everything has been done correctly. If you need more help, then do a quick search in Google where you’ll find a whole bunch of resources to guide you through the process.

Social Media

The power of social media can never be under-estimated. I think it has changed the way people which people communicate online and will continue to make a huge impact online. It can even be used to find the right link-building opportunities, but you need to know how to use social media correctly. Here’s a cool trick which I’ve used to gain exposure and build links to my content.

First, you need to write the best content possible because this will get people to share your content online. I also encourage you to add social share buttons to your content page to increase share activity. Next, when you share your content, it’s a good idea to add the right hashtags because this will get it in front of the right people. You can also contact people who are powerful in your niche and ask them to share your content too. In return, tell them you will be more than happy to share their content in return. Social media can boost your visibility within a few minutes when things are done correctly, but you need to only post the highest quality content online. By posting low quality content, you will hurt your brand and people will stop following you.

Final Thoughts

Above, I have listed the top link building strategies which make a difference now and will continue to make a difference in 2018. Internalize them and use them because these people make a massive difference in your blogging career. If you need any more information, then do a quick search in Google.
