As technology keeps changing, you have more people coming into an industry which at one point wasn’t affordable. You can now start a blog and setup a website for a few dollars without any experience what so ever. But, you still need to pay close attention to what’s been going on in the industry. I encourage you to read through all of the resources online making sure you have covered everything.

We’ll be looking at how search engines have changed and what you can do to stay ahead of the changing trends. Finally, we’ll be exploring how research has changed and what methods work the best now compared to before. If you have any questions, you can post them in the content box below the post. Let’s get started.

Research

The way we do research has changed so much because now it’s not only confined to only Google Keyword Planner. We now have so many options to choose from when doing research and it’s important you use some of them going forward. Here are some of the most popular ways to conduct research now and will continue to be going forward.

Quora – this is a question and answer website where people can leave comments in real time. It’s amazing because it will give you an overview of the questions people are leaving. It will give you an overview of the common problems people are facing within their niche. Skim through and find what question gets asked the most and then write content on it because you know it will be popular.

Google Keyword Planner – This is still a tool which will help you gain momentum because it is integrated with Google search. You still can find some very popular keywords using this tool and it’s important you pay close attention to the related keywords too.

Google Trends – an awesome way to collect information on the new keywords which will be taking shape. These keywords are new and by tapping into them before anyone else does, you’ll be able to get a jump start on your competition. I recommend visiting this tool every month to find what new keywords people are typing.

Once you are done researching, you’ll have a better understanding of the content you should be writing. These research methods will help you stay ahead of your competition.

Valuable Link Building

This is another area which has changed so much over the last 10 years. Link building didn’t matter 10- years ago especially where you got the links from. However, Google has tweaked their search engine to put more emphasis on quality. Now you need to pay attention to the sites you’re getting links from, and low-quality links will hurt your rankings. Since more emphasis is put on quality, you need to make sure you do your research and select websites which will help your blog and growth.

In short, link building has changed from acquiring links from low quality websites to getting them from higher quality sites. In the next section, you’ll learn more about the importance of relevance when building links.

Relevance Matters

These days relevance is playing more of a role than ever before. Your content must be relevant to your other content and the links you get from sites must be relevant too. At one point, people were simply creating links from everywhere and relevance didn’t matter which meant people were arriving on sites with content they didn’t want to read. So Google throughout several years has updated their algorithm to put more of an emphasis on relevance. The next time you are building links, you want to make sure you are building them from sites relevant to yours. Here are three ways to find relevant websites –

First, use Google and do a quick search using your target keywords. This will ensure you get the right search results and that the sites which appear are accurate. Secondly, once you get your search results, I encourage you to skim through each of them making sure they have similar content as yours. Some sites might be relevant but won’t have the type of content you want to read. Third, do searches every few weeks to see what new sites appear in the search results. Google is always updating their algorithm so take time to make sure you see what’s new in the results.

Outreach

This is even more important than it was before because it makes getting links and high value content shared more easily. If you can connect with an authority blogger within your niche, you’ll have an easier time generate traffic and building your brand. It’s also a great place to look for guest posting opportunities because many bloggers do offer them if you pitch the right topic idea.

The cool thing is you have several tools you can utilize to help you with outreach. This makes things a lot easier so outreach is a must these days.

Social Media

Within the last 10 years, social media has changed the way we connect with people and promote our content. For example, through social media, you can connect with the same people and promote your content to thousands of relevant people. This is even amazing when building links because you can get your content out in front of the right type of people. With that said, I encourage you to focus on the three big networks and use the following tips when getting started on social media –

First, you should make sure your social media accounts are always up-to-date. This means once you register, you want to ensure you have added your name, an image and all the other information to describe your business. Secondly, you want to start by following people relevant to you in your niche. By doing this, you are increasing the likelihood that they will follow you back and you’ll be building valuable relationships. Third, you want to see how you can automate the entire sharing process. For example, I would do a search in Google to see what’s available and what tools you can make use of right away. Finally, once you are done writing your content, you want to share it with your people on social media. However, before you do make sure you have included an image, great headline and proper description.

From what I have learned, I encourage you to find out what are the best sharing times for your niche. Sometimes sharing early morning will be better for you then sharing at night. This is something you will figure out over time as you begin to share more content.

Email Marketing

More emphasis is given to email marketing because it can generate a lot of buzz quickly and within minutes. However, you need to take initiate and setup an email campaign which should not take too long nowadays. Many of the email marketing providers provide easy to setup forms which can be installed within minutes. However, you need to install the forms to your blog so you can start to collect subscribers. With that said, through email marketing, you can generate buzz to your content and increase social shares. Imagine sending people to your blog through a simple email campaign and they all share your content? This will not only build momentum to your blog, it will increase brand awareness. Here are some tips you should keep in mind –

First, start collecting email subscribers right away so you can start to build your list. Secondly, you should make sure you have an autoresponder in place so you can send messages to your subscribers right away. They signed up to receive your content so make sure you have some messages ready to be sent out to them. The hardest thing is to find out when you should be sending them messages because some time’s will work better than others. However, there is a very easy solution to this which is testing. By testing on different times and days, you’ll be able to find out what works best for you and your list.

Final Thoughts

Get started now and be ahead of your competition. I encourage you to study these trends and implement them into your blogging going forward. If you have any questions, then doing a quick search in Google is a great way to find information.
