By understanding the trends taking place, you’ll be able to ensure you make the right moves going forward which will produce the best results. If you are trying to be successful online, then it’s important you keep growing in the right direction when blogging. For example, you want to implement the strategies which do produce the best results. If you don’t then you’ll be wasting your time because no progress will be made. This will push you further from your bottom line. Today, we’ll be exploring the top digital marketing trends taking place in 2017 and the importance of applying them to your strategy.
Let’s get started and if you have any feedback, then please leave it in the comment box below the content. These are the top trends which I feel are taking place, however, I’ll admit that many of you will have your own opinion.
1) Content Is More Important
That’s right! Content is even more important today than it was ever before. If you think about it, Google has even put more emphasis on content than ever before because they know what the readers are looking for. In 2017, you need to focus more on creating high-quality content to attract more readers. It’s this type of content which will outperform all others within the search engine too. Consistency will also be more important than ever before so be sure to set a posting schedule and make sure you stick to it.
Personally, whenever I’m looking to write the best content, I focus on research and finding out what my readers are looking for. This will provide the information I need to create content which I know will outperform all others within the search engines.
2) Mobile Compatibility
In 2017, you need to ensure your website and the content posted is compatible with mobile devices. It’s stated that 85% of people are checking emails, content, and browsing the web through their smartphones. This is more of a reason for you to ensure your content is displayed perfectly when someone reads it on their phone. So, what can you do to make sure your website is displayed accurately on mobile devices.
- Make sure the theme or template is responsive
- Ensure you remove clutter by displaying only the main components
- Always have a call-to-action which redirects people to your main website if needed
- The content should be spaced out and formatted correctly.
3) Advertising Will be More Important
With traffic growing and bloggers finding more creative ways to generate engagement, it’s important you continue to find creative ways to advertise on your website. If you’re not offering to advertise on your website, then you might want to consider it going forward because it can help generate a lot of money for you. It will help increase and add money to your bottom line. So, how do you go about doing this? Simple…
I would research what my competition is doing and learn from them. These people have been around for years so they know exactly what to do and how to put together the right advertising packages. Do a quick search in Google, and visit the blogs of those bloggers who are in the same niche as you. Visit their advertising pages and see how they offer packages and where they place the ads on their pages. The fact they’ve been around a long time means what they are doing is most likely working for them. You might want to consider popups and video ads too.
4) Organic Traffic
Bloggers and websites will start to rely more heavily on organic traffic. Even though you have so many advertising networks, the problem is they are very expensive because of competition. For example, when Google AdWords was first introduced it was so cheap but now because of the competition, you are paying premium prices per click. For people making money, this is no problem, but those starting out will have a problem affording the pay per click model. So now, many people are keen on optimizing their website hoping to get organic clicks.
Imagine ranking in the top 3 results for a keyword getting 60,000 searches per month? This can generate a lot of free traffic to your website. My advice is you should invest more in SEO and pay close attention to your competition and how they have optimized their web pages. Use the same keywords and focus on getting the right backlinks which will increase your position in the search results. There are a lot of free videos available online which will show you how to optimize your pages for performance.
5) Email Marketing Will Remain
If you are not doing email marketing and collecting subscribers, then you are slowing your growth big time. Email marketing is a great way to get people to come to your website continually and build loyalty. It’s a great way to keep your audience always clued in on your progress. Start collecting email address and have a strong email campaign in place to shoot off whenever you post new content on your website. Here’s something else way you should utilize email marketing,
It’s so affordable now and can be implemented into your blog within a few minutes. Unlike before, adding an email form and collecting subscribers is not a lengthy process. Do a quick search on Google and find a list of the top email service providers, choose one, and get started with the setup process.
6) Social Media Growth
The growth of social media has been amazing and it’s not going to be slowing down anytime soon. For this reason, it’s important you continue to deploy social media strategies to your website and blog. The connections you build in social media can be awesome for your overall engagement and success. Head over to the main social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Google + so you can set up an account for free. After, it’s important to add every detail possible so people visiting your profile will be able to read about your brand and what you offer. I recommend following others who are relevant to your niche especially those who have a lot of followers.
If you are new to social media, then do some research on your own so you can learn how to engage on it correctly. Your objective should be to pull the most value out of it so you can grow your blog. I think going forward, social media will play an even more important role so you should jump aboard right now so you don’t get left behind.
7) More Targeting
IN 2017, more emphasis will be put on writing content which is more targeted to your audience. You can’t write broad content hoping to attract an audience because the internet is hugely making it hard to connect people. But, if you narrow down your targeting, you’ll be able to attract the exact type of audience you are looking for. What are some ways you can do this quickly and generate a lot of traffic –
- Add the right keywords to the title and description
- Add the right keywords to the URL of your page
- When building links, you should focus on using the right anchor text
- Add relevant keywords to the body of your content. Scatter them so you have a density of 3%-4% which is just right. Mix them up so it does not seem like you are trying to stuff keywords into your content.
- Social media targeting should be done also by connecting with the right people, posting the right content, and linking to the right pages.
- Don’t forget to internal link within your content and link out to high-quality resources for your readers.
2017 has seemed some new trends, but many of them have built on the older ones. For example, every year emphasis has been given to social media and how important this is becoming when marketing your blog and/or business. I encourage you to use the information above to gain traction online and gain an advantage in your competition. Read over my content again and start to apply all the strategies but don’t forget to keep track of what’s working and what’s not. You can do this by installing Google Analytics to your pages and keeping an eye on your data for the next 30-60 days.
This will give you a good idea of what content you should be focusing on going forward. The more content you write that your readers love, the more engagement you’ll get. This will increase visibility helping you achieve your bottom line quicker. If you need further help, you can do a quick search on Google and find some free resources available to you.
