Chad Arrington | Content Marketing | Writing content is one of the major things when starting your new blog. You attract people through the content you write and the value you provide. If you are not able to provide the readers with any value, they will leave and not come back. From this reason, you need to research what is important to your readers and how you will continue to provide them with the value they want to read. For example, one of the biggest challenges I faced when starting my blog is coming up with enough content ideas. I didn’t have enough things to write about and this slowed down my growth massively. I would panic because I didn’t have enough topics and would just stop writing, but this all changed after I found out where to look for the trending topics. Anyways

Content Marketing

As a new blogger, you’ll have to take the time out to write content and research the best topics. It’s hard for new bloggers simply because this is something which is new and has never been done by you. You don’t know what to expect and have a hard time getting a hold of the resources you need to grow your blog. The good news is that there are so many resources available to you online and many others have provided with a step-by-step blueprint on what to do when getting started. I’ll be going over the top content marketing ideas to help jump-start your blog. Let’s get started and please leave your comments in the box below.

Research Always

No matter what niche you are in, it’s important you take time to research topics and know where to go to find the most trending topics. For example, I have three places which have worked out great for me and will like to share them with you.

Google Keyword Planner – here’s you’ll find a list of keywords which are getting a lot of searches. If you can rank for any of them, you’ll drive enormous organic traffic to your blog. Check this free tool out to find what keywords are picking up searches and are not hard to rank for. Don’t forget to check out the related keyword section next to your main target keyword.

Google Trends – one of the best ways to find what new keywords are becoming popular. You can then use these keywords when writing content and even use them as a topic. Since these are now trending they will be very easy to rank for too. This tool is free and has been used by me for several years.

Google Search – This search engine has changed the way we find information and has improved overall. For example, now whenever you do a search, you get a list of relevant keywords which people have searched for too. Use these keywords for content ideas because these are new and easy to rank for.

How-To Content

This is one of the best types of content to write because people are always looking for ways to do something and improve at something. However, they don’t want to learn by reading just any old type of content, but the actual step-by-step how-to content would be the best approach. This is the same reason why sites like became so popular because people were able to create video tutorials. Here’s the secret –

Whenever you are creating how-to content, it’s important to focus on the popular topics which you know your audience is looking for. For example, it will be hard for you to build traction if you create how-to content one something which people are not looking for. You want to create a tutorial which solves a common problem within your niche because this will attract people to it. This type of content also gets shared more than others.

Trending News

This will depend on the site you currently have and your audience. Ask yourself this question – are they on your website to find out what’s new on your topic and read the news? If so, then you need to focus on providing the best news for everyone because this is what gets people boosted to move in the right direction. However, when you are operating such a massive site, it’s important to be on top because news site will only succeed if the news is fresh and current. No one will come back to your website if you are providing old news. But, if you can provide a hub for your readers to find the best news then you’ll do very well.

I recommend partnering with other news sites and stream their news on your website. This way you don’t have a shortage of news and can keep your visitors happy.

Introduce Products or Write Reviews

E-commerce has changed the way which people buy products and customers are always looking to buy the best products. You can make a great living by focusing your content on new products and writing reviews on existing ones. This will help people make a more informed decision and earn you a nice commission at the same time. Start by focusing on your niche and what products you have available for your customers. I would reach out to these product owners and ask them to give you a free trial so you can test it out and write a review. I would also join the affiliate program so when people buy through your website, you’ll get a commission. Here are a few things you want to keep in mind –

First, you need to be honest with your reviews because if you say something is good to earn a profit, your success will not last long. Secondly, be honest and genuine about your reviews because this is what attracted people to your blog in the first place. Third, you need to be consistent or you will find it hard to attract readers to your blog or even grow. Fourth, you need to focus on connecting with new products coming out in your market because that’s what people are looking for. They don’t want to read reviews on old products.

Once you get this type of website going, it’s amazing how much momentum you can build quickly.

General Insight

This involves you being an expert in your niche and people coming to ask you questions and for your opinion. Providing general insight means to write Content Marketing based on questions being asked by your readers. You’re an expert so can provide insight into the topic which is why people love to read your content. However, don’t forget for you to grow your blog and readers, you’ll need to prove yourself as an expert which comes after years of experience. For example, how do you know when someone is an expert in a niche? You know because of how long the persons been around in your niche, and how much others are talking about the person too. So, for you to build the same type of credibility, you need to do the work and build yourself over time.

This has slowly started to become popular as more people are looking for information online. Not only that, people are looking for a quick way to read content and watching videos and listening to podcasts is a great way. Not to mention, the tools used to create podcasts are cheaper so more people are now creating them. The next time you have a Content Marketing idea. Maybe, you should create a podcast from it and allow people to download it from the mobile app store. You can even post it on your website allowing people to download it from there too.

Final Thoughts

Content marketing is huge and can grow your blog quickly but things must be the right way. I encourage you to read through all of the points above and apply them to your blog when you start. As mentioned, starting a blog will be hard so you need to stay consistent throughout the whole process. One key point I forget to mention was to keep an eye on your statistics. Because this is the only way you’ll find out what’s been working and what’s not. You can use Google Analytics which is a free tool and install the code in your website header. The key things I look for in the statistics is the following –

Location – this will give you an idea of where your audience is coming from. You can then base your content on where your audience is from.

Content Marketing

Landing pages – What pages visited by most by your audience.

Bounce rate – How engaging people find your content because of the lower the number the better. You want to keep this number below 20%.

Search Queries – A great indication of search terms you should be focusing Content Marketing when building links. You can rank for these keywords and drive organic traffic to your site.
